  To secure a full-time job, starting in or after June 2006,
in which my computer programming and mathematical skills will be
exercised and improved


EDUCATION
  Senior at Carnegie Mellon University, with a dual degree in
mathematics and computer science (2006)
  Spring 2005 midterm QPA: 4.00         2002-2005 cumulative QPA: 3.76
  Relevant coursework in C systems programming, compiler design,
algorithm design and analysis, combinatorics, linear algebra,
graph theory, and group theory
  Have taken courses in Spanish for six and a half years (1997-2003),
and in Chinese for two and a half years (2002-2004)
  IB Diploma from Richard Montgomery H.S. in Rockville, Md. (2002); 
National Merit Finalist; Sixth Subject project in computer science:
a compiler for a small programming language


SKILLS
  Familiarity with applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and 
MSVC, as well as programming tools such as grep, diff, and man.
Have used CVS, SourceSafe, and SourceDepot versioning systems
  Extensive familiarity with the C and C++ programming languages and
the TI-83 graphing calculator
  Varying degrees of familiarity with several other programming 
languages, including C#, Java, Matlab, Perl, Ocaml, SML, Pascal, 
METAFONT, and APL
  Familiarity with Windows, MS-DOS, and GNU/Linux, including 
knowledge of 80x86 assembly language. Working knowledge of Mac OS X
and other Unix operating systems and shells
  Proficiency with typesetting and layout in (La)TeX and
Adobe InDesign
  Conversant in Spanish; some knowledge of Chinese


WORK EXPERIENCE
  Internship, May-August 2005, in Microsoft's Visual Studio Tools
division. Designed and implemented a syntax-highlighting editor in C# 
using the VSIP libraries.
  Internship, June-August 2003 and May-August 2004, at Spatial
Integrated Systems, Inc., Rockville, Md. (http://www.sisinc.org/). 
Wrote utilities, driver code, camera calibration and feature~detection 
software using Matlab, C, and C++.
  Work, October 2002-present, as copy manager at The Tartan,
Carnegie Mellon's student newspaper
  Volunteered, 2002-2003, on CMU's Robocup AIBO soccer team
(a large C++ project)


ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS
  Active with The Tartan, Student Pugwash, the CMU Juggling Club,
and CMU KGB; member and current secretary of the CMU College Bowl 
academic competition team
  Boy Scout up to Life rank; earned membership in the Order of the
Arrow
  Interests in relationships between information and data, including
programming language design, program generation, machine vision,
linguistics, typography, and elegant algorithms in all fields
