Mile High Biscuits
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup Crisco or butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 450. Grease large cookie sheet.
In mixing bowl sift dry ingredients. Cut in butter until it resembles coarse
crumbs. Beat egg lightly, add to milk. Then add to dry ingredients. Mix with
fork until dough holds together. Turn on to lightly floured surface. Knead
lightly with floured fingers. Roll out to one inch thick, cut with floured
biscuit cutter. Arrange on baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes.
