On June 8 Carnegie Museum of Art introduces the second installment of its video-art exhibition "Mixed Doubles." The exhibition is an ongoing, ten-month long series in which contemporary works are played alongside works from the museum's film canon.

Ben Matthews continues his exploration into a unique, fantastical and sometimes unsettling universe. The characters from this place exist at the edges of sideshows, of archaic advertisement and of storybooks none of which ever quite manifested themselves in our reality. Works on canvas and on folding, triptych panels unveil a mysteriously disconcerting series of images and scenes from this not-quite time/place.

Pittsburgh will host its first ever Asian American Film Festival [AAFFP] in Fall 2005. The festival is in its formative/planning stage and seeks volunteers to help make it a success. Interest in film and culture, in particular in Asian culture (India, China, Japan, etc.), would be helpful but not necessary. This is an exciting opportunity to build a unique, sustainable program highlighting diversity and culture for the Pittsburgh Region!

To Observe and Imagine: British Drawings and Watercolors, 1600 – 1900, is organized by the Morgan Library, New York. The Pittsburgh presentation of this exhibition is made possible, in part, through a generous grant from the Drue Heinz Trust.
